The  figure  is  a  masterpiece

and  undoubtedly  one  of  the  best  Hogarth  ever  has  drawn .

One has played long and wild … one of the tables has thrown its cards on the earth, the pandects of the whist, Hoyle on Whist – This book had made itself curiously in the English history of literature – , have been trampled with feet … ”
