Johann Noa Buirette of Oehlefeld on WilhelmsdorffAnna Elisabeth Buirette of Oehlefeld

Main  Works  by Vogel from his time in Augsburg, that of Anna Elisabetha

of  marvelous  velvety  chiaroscuro

as for the rare and tender velvety mezzotints – already in 1675 the expert Sandrart numbered “clean impressions” at just about “50 or 60” – of highest desirability :

“ His mezzotints belong to the best of the time then. P. v. Stetten says about him he were ‘one of the most powerful in black art in Germany’ … Among the later portraits

the  large  portrait  of  Anna  Buirette  of  Oehlefeldt

stands out … by the sure command of the means ”

“ Sir, yes, (the Rubens) is closer to the one in London (recte Dresden), but the one we have is on copper. Thank you for your time. Highest regards, D… A… (and yes America could use a blessing about now) ”
