Florence. Neptune Fountain on Piazza della Signoria. Bartolomeo Ammanati’s famous chief work (1571/75) with the marble giant statue of Neptune in the center and the accessory figures – Tritons, hippocamps etc. – of bronze. On the left the bronze equestrian statue of Medici Cosimo I by Giovanni Bologna (1594). Trade + carriage accessories. Wood engraving after Gustav Bauernfeind (Sulz on the Neckar 1848 – Jerusalem 1904) for Adolf Closs, Stuttgart. (1876.) Inscribed: within the subject GBauernfeind, otherwise typographically in German as above. 14 x 18.8 cm. – Continuous local text on both sides.
